Sharyn's Cycle Challenge for Orphan Kids in Botswana
Story
Botswana, a beautiful country in southern Africa, is suffering. The President of Botswana laments, “We are threatened with extinction. People are dying in chilling high numbers [due to the impact of HIV/AIDS]. It is a crisis of the first magnitude.” Current life expectancy in Botswana is less than 40 years. Sadly this means more than one in ten children has been left orphaned.
The Botswana Orphan Project is a charity making a difference. It currently runs six orphan centres in Botswana providing food, clothing, shelter, education, love and a future for children left behind. There is, of course, so much more need: funds to sustain these centres and funds to reach further and wider to care for more children.
So I’m off and riding! I LOVE Africa. I LOVE kids. And it very much breaks my heart to see kids suffering – I want to make a difference. My challenge – to ride 300km along the GREAT Ocean Road over three days from February 10-12, 2013 and raise over $2500 for this GREAT cause. I’d love you to be a part of this challenge and make a difference with me for the kids in Botswana. So I’m asking for your kind donation – a little or a lot - to give life, love and a future for these kids.
Thank you so much! Blessings to you,
Sharyn

PSS Love your prayers that I make this challenge... still need more training and lots of donations!

Botswana Orphan Project ( Helplink Australia Inc)
The Botswana Orphan Project is a non-profit entity focused on providing support for children orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Botswana. Since its inception in 2007 we have helped to build six orphan centres around the country. The orphan centres are focused on alleviating the burden on guardians by providing day care facilities and after school care. The centres also aid in breaking the cycle of poverty by feeding, ensuring they receive the appropriate health care and instilling a sense of self-worth in the children.
